Carol is a 2023 graduate of the BA in Linguistics program at UBC, and has an interest in Speech-Language Pathology. Carol was previously one of our volunteers at West Coast Speech, and enjoys getting to know clients as well as assisting with sessions under the guidance of our wonderful SLPs.

Vanessa is currently completing her Masters degree at UBC's School of Audiology & Speech Sciences.
She has a wealth of experience in the fields of Linguistics and Speech Sciences, as well as meaningful experience in community and lab work. In her free time, Vanessa enjoys reading, running, and big family dinners. We are so happy to have Vanessa on our team!

Erin has an interest in Speech-Language Pathology and has completed relevant coursework up to the graduate level. She volunteered at West Coast, and her contributions led her to becoming an amazing and valued therapy assistant. Erin loves to bake, travel and drink bubble tea. Her clients can't wait to work with her and we are so happy to have her!

Zoe is a third year UBC student currently working towards her Bachelor of Kinesiology. In her free time, she enjoys hiking with friends, playing tennis and travelling. Upon completing her undergraduate degree, Zoe aspires to further her education by attending graduate school and pursuing a Master’s in Speech Pathology.

Tiana is a UBC student currently pursuing a degree in psychology and a minor in speech sciences. Aspiring to be a speech language pathologist one day, Tiana hopes that her time in the clinic will help her to build new skills and experiences as she immerses herself in the world of speech language pathology.

We can’t say enough about how much we appreciate our amazing volunteers.
They’re a huge part of what makes our clinic special - showing up with big hearts, ready to help in any way they can. Whether it's helping clients, lending a hand behind the scenes, or supporting our outreach efforts, our volunteers bring so much energy, kindness, and care to everything they do.
We truly couldn’t do this without them, and we’re so thankful to have them as part of our clinic family!

My children have been seeing Janine and her colleagues for the last 10 years. Speech Language Pathology is based on the developmental approach and it gives me a different perspective than ABA. Personally I believe using a multi-disciplinary approach including ABA, SLP and OT has been helping my children the most. Janine and her staff have been willing to listen to me, explaining to me their approach, teaching me on what to do and how to do it at home, and changing the focus area as we go along depending on my children's needs, school teacher requests and urgency of the matters. They also provide recommendation to my children's IEP meetings. I am a happy mother and I recommend them. They provide high quality speech and language therapy.

We have been using speech and language therapy services at WCSLP for our son for more than 10 years. He has worked with a few different therapists but primarily with Janine Baker during this time. He has attended individual sessions and social group sessions. All the therapists have been patient, identified areas to improve, encouraged new behaviors and strategies. They have also taught him how to engage and interact with peers. We have seen improvements in his social skills and most importantly - he is able to maintain an ongoing conversation with typical kids. We highly recommend WCSLP.

We have been thrilled with the progress our kiddos have made with their social skills through group sessions at West Coast Speech Language Pathology. Over the past 3 years our kids explored topics like hidden social rules/expectations , how to make small talk, what is a social fake and how to answer questions during an interview. Both kids are way more confident in new social settings and had a smooth transition from elementary school to high school, thanks to the folks at West Coast Speech Language Pathology.
They get the thumbs up from the Hamilton Family!!
